A MAC Red, Red, Red Collection Face of the Day: Red Lids and Lips on a Tuesday Afternoon
Holy kitty cats, Batman! That'due south a lot of red.
I suppose I could've toned information technology downwards, but after vexing over the pan of matte red eyeshadow in the new MAC Red, Red, Red Collection (complete with furrowed brows) and trying to think of a way to make it seem less…terrifying? All I could come up with is "YOLO!"
So I went for it.
I'1000 wearing three things from the collection today, which, past the way, is bachelor at present online (got some swatches right here) — Strike While Haute (the matte red eyeshadow), v-Alarm Fire (the soft orangey red lipstick) and Night is Young (the bright ruby-red creamy gloss).
At present, almost that cerise eyeshadow? Um…wow.
Y'all know how some mattes tin exist a bugbear to work with, right? They'll apply patchy and battle yous while you're trying to blend them. Well, Strike While Haute has been easier to piece of work with than I expected.
I hardly notice any fallout from it, and it'due south been quite cooperative, in that I haven't had to bribe information technology with candy or ponies or kittens to become it to feather out into my transition colors.
Oh, and that highlight in the heart and inside corners? That'south skilful ol' MAC Shroom, the Old Faithful of shimmery beige highlighting eyeshadows. I effing beloved how it looks with the ruddy, about like information technology'southward candy cane-inspired makeup.
MAC Ricepaper would've totally worked, too.
I'm not exactly sure if this look would qualify as article of clothing (anywhere in the world), only it could be, depending on where you work. Maybe if you work for a video game visitor or another artistic field, or in a hip hair salon where you can get abroad with wearing colors that are a picayune outside the box.
I don't know though… For nearly people, this is merely a sh*t ton of cherry, LOL!
Eh, only like the phrase goes — you merely live one time. 🙂
If you decide to go for it with this red eyeshadow or a different i, here are three things that may aid you pull off the look…
1. Article of clothing falsies
Without false lashes, this await just didn't seem ready or finished. I tried without the falsies first, and it was like something was missing.

2. Tight line with a black eyeliner
I lined my upper lash and h2o lines with matte black MAC Superfly, one of the new MAC Technakohls ($16 each). I used it to create a boundary between the red eyeshadow and the whites of my optics, to sort of brand the ruby-red wait more than "contained."
I don't know if that makes sense…but I do know this: before I incorporated the black liner hither, I looked 50 shades of cray. Fifty-fifty if you're lazy, I don't think you should skip this step.
3. Catch your warm browns
I blended out the edges of the red eyeshadow with two warm matte browns — medium orangey brown Soft Brown in the pucker, and reddish brown Saddle just below it.
Layering the ii browns merely takes some of the edge off the cerise.

How cute is this pup?!
This fine gentleman is Leo. He works every bit a greeter at Cousins' Christmas Trees in Novato. I met him yesterday while El Hub and I were getting our tree.
After speaking with Leo about his time to come plans, I feel that he would make a wonderful addition to the Tabs the True cat Industries squad. I offered him a position, but he doesn't seem ready to brand a career change merely yet. 🙂
